Destination Weddings in Fort Myers

When couples are considering a destination wedding, they may be surprised to know that they won’t have to go very far to find their paradise. There are beautiful beachfront and island locations right here on the Mainland U.S.!

Fort Myers in Southwest Florida is a beautiful locale to consider! Rich in history, warm climate, miles of sparkling shoreline and plenty of resorts and venues to choose from, it is becoming a sought after choice for all couples who want a destination wedding with a beach vacation vibe. And, you don’t have to fly over an ocean to get there!

Here are a few of the locations I toured during my visit:

Luminary Hotel

This brand new hotel in historic Fort Myers boasts a modern industrial vibe with a nod to the noteworthy pioneers of the area. The pool deck is a great option for welcome parties or receptions and they have a fantastic rooftop bar perfect for having a cocktail at sunset and an after-party. They also have an expansive convention center that can be transformed to any aesthetic and can host large events and serve as an easy back up plan for inclement weather.

Heitman House

Travel back in time to this historical gem. Built in 1908, this Victorian home has a romantic backyard with a wrap around porch right on the Caloosahatchee River. With string lights and champagne coupes, dance the night away under the stars!

Hyatt Coconut Point

If you really want the wow factor, this does the trick. Large oasis-inspired pool, multiple outdoor options for ceremonies, receptions, parties and brunches, this resort gives you all the tropical vacation vibes. They also have boats that take you across the inlet to the beach where couples can also have a secluded beach ceremony. The private beach is currently unavailable, but is expected to reopen in late 2023.

'Tween Waters Island Resort & Spa

The ‘Tween Waters Island Resort has darling brightly painted beach cottages and is perfect for smaller destination weddings. Built in 1931, the history is all around the property and is most notable with the landmark Old Captiva House. Celebrate in their upstairs ballroom with panoramic views, take a bike ride around the island, say I do on the beach and enjoy their pool and spa services.
