The VCB

Helping Your Guests During a Crisis

The accidental death or serious injury of a vacationer in Lee County is tragic and leaves the family with decisions to make in a location far from home.  Because we want to assure travelers that the Fort Myers’ islands, beaches, and neighborhoods are a caring community that appreciates its visitors, the VCB offers special assistance with such emergencies. The Visitor Assistance Program serves as a liaison with the accommodations industry in providing emergency assistance to domestic or international visitors and their families. If an unfortunate circumstance occurs, such as a guest’s accidental injury or death while vacationing on a short-term basis in Lee County, the Visitor Assistance Program is activated to help.

We assist with:

  • Airline reservation changes
  • Rental car returns
  • Accommodation assistance
  • Translator services
  • Law enforcement liaison
  • Expediting logistics with local governmental entities
  • Foreign embassy regulations
  • Medical and mortuary service information liaison for families with hospitalized individuals or for the return of remains to the person’s home community
  • Media assistance
  • Plus many others

We do not:

  • Charge a fee
  • Provide financial assistance
  • Offer this resource to part-time residents who own property in Lee County. Visitor Assistance Program support is limited to vacationers staying 30 days or less at any hotel, motel, condominium, or R.V. park located in Lee County.
